Attorney Cristina Alvarez Paredes
Cristina Alvarez Paredes was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, and has lived the majority of her life in the Rockford, Illinois area. She graduated as Valedictorian from Stillman Valley High School and attended Saint Xavier University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science and International Relations.
Shortly thereafter, Cristina attended Northern Illinois University College of Law, ranking among the top of her class and graduating Magna Cum Laude. During law school, Cristina was a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the College of Law, mentoring and teaching first year law students in various doctrinal courses, including Criminal Law, Property, Constitutional Law, and Torts. She also worked at the Zeke Giorgi Legal Clinic where she provided pro bono work in estate planning. In 2022, she was chosen by the Illinois Women’s Bar Foundation as a scholarship recipient and in 2023 she was awarded the Daniel S. Reynolds Achievement Award, which is given to one third year law student who has exhibited a strong commitment to professionalism, leadership, community involvement, and educating others.
Cristina joined Canfield & McKenna in August of 2023 and engages in family law, estate planning, probate, and real estate transactions. She looks forward to continuing to serve her community and helping to extend access to legal services to the Spanish-speaking community. When she’s not at work, she can be found enjoying new restaurants, at community events, and spending time with her family and her cats.
Poco después, Cristina asistió a la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Northern Illinois, ubicándose entre las mejores de su clase y graduándose Magna Cum Laude. Mientras estudiaba derecho, Cristina fue asistente de enseñanza graduada en la Facultad de Derecho, asesorando y enseñando a estudiantes de derecho de primer año en varios cursos doctrinales, incluidos derecho penal, propiedad, derecho constitucional y agravios. También trabajó en la Clínica Legal Zeke Giorgi, donde brindó trabajo pro bono en planificación patrimonial. En el 2022, fue elegida por el Illinois Women’s Bar Foundation como becaria y en el 2023 recibió el premio Daniel S. Reynolds Achievement Award, que se otorga a un estudiante de derecho de tercer año que ha demostrado un fuerte compromiso con el profesionalismo, el liderazgo, participación comunitaria y en la educacion de otros.
Cristina se incorporó a Canfield & McKenna en agosto de 2023 y se dedica a los derechos de familia, planeación patrimonial, sucesion y transacción inmobiliaria. Espera continuar sirviendo a su comunidad y ayudar a ampliar el acceso a los servicios legales a la comunidad de habla hispana. Cuando no está trabajando, ella se puede encontrar disfrutando de nuevos restaurantes, en eventos comunitarios y pasando tiempo con su familia y sus gatos.
